Competition Classes

We fly in 3 competition classes. These are:

Mixed Club and Newcomer class with index based scoring

Aircraft with DaeC index <102, or valid DAeC index if flying as a newcomer in the class with an aircraft that has an index of 102 or more.

The mixed club and newcomer class is designed for gliders with an index <102 and for newcomers. An experienced local cross-country pilot is available for this competition class to provide coaching tips. In addition, the majority of tasks in this class are AAT tasks, so that each participant can divide up the route depending on the performance of the aircraft and their own abilities.

This competition class is particularly suitable for competition beginners, as we want to ensure learning success for beginners with targeted coaching, tactically sensible tasks and a focus on safety!

This competition class is also particularly suitable for older wooden gliders. We regularly have participants who compete with Bergfalken and Ka6 and who have already won the competition!

Mixed Standard Class with Index based Scoring
All gliders with index 102 -109

Mixed Open Class with Index based Scoring
All gliders with index 110 and larger

Why this competition in particular offers something for everyone!

You will fly interesting and at times challenging tasks in an informal and family friendly airfield atmosphere with the goal of maximizing each day of the competition whilst always putting safety first. The international competition with neighbouring countries adds to the excitement.

Our competition area encompasses the Black Forest, the Swabian Alb, and the Swiss Jura. This highly appealing low mountain range landscape provides a spectacular flying experience for both experts and novice competitors. The Hütten/Hotzenwald airfield boasts an optimal infrastructure. During the competition week, our clubhouse is open and we offer a bread roll service in the morning, free wifi for competitors and crew as well as modern sanitary facilities.

The surrounding area offers numerous varied activities for accompanying family members and those returning home. For instance, you can take city trips to Basel, Zurich, and Freiburg, enjoy thermal baths in Bad Säckingen, Badenweiler, and Bad Krozingen, or go on hikes and mountain bike tours in the Wehratal valley or on the plateaus of the Hotzenwald.
